Not too long ago, cannabis was illegal in Canada and with it came many convictions. 

These convictions overwhelmingly targeted racial communities and even though cannabis would become legal, small cannabis convictions remained. For many Canadians of colour, this record prevented them from getting a job despite their qualifications.

In partnership with Cannabis Amnesty and their legal fight to make real change, we launched ‘Legalize Us’ – a rally cry rooted in protest for human rights and justice. The campaign was launched at a major government event where many legislators were present. The story moved many and opened the door to real conversations. 

Soon after, real change happened in Canada, and small carry convictions were lifted.
